I've always been attracted to those areas damaged by the passage of time. As a young man near my home was a former hospital of day laborers who had been abandoned not long ago and many evenings we jumped the wall and spend hours walking the halls and peering through the building materials different hospital that had been abandoned in the hasty flight (patient records, wire sutures, bandages ....).
stays crumpled by the daily use over time always seemed to me that they were full of life unlike these modern buildings aseptic, cold and empty that are built today.
So my passion for the majestic city of Havana. Unlike most people believed that the Cuban capital is abandoned, dirty and decrepit as I see a city full of life, a city brimming with joy and every corner offers the wear of longevity of old age, the fullness of life that has overflowed from every pore of their existence.
The other day at the opening of the Biennale Photo of Olot discovered the exposure of a young photographer that caught my attention. Color photographs forceful, vibrant photographs. If we add that it was his first show everything is magnified more.
"ABANDONATS"
uses photography to immortalize the beauty of abandoned places and objects found in them and who have fallen forgotten. The choice of this theme as central to my work, is because since childhood, I have always been especially curious to know what was inside these neglected places. I was older, I get into homes, factories, nurseries, orphanages ... and different areas damaged by the passage of time to uncover its secrets. In this way, reconnect the past with the present and becomes the forgotten memory. But capturing the essence of the moment is not enough. I've always been heavily influenced by Tim Burton and his dark worlds yet sweet. For this reason, I use digital techniques to enhance the textures, lights and colors. So, I get to recreate this hybrid world between reality and story to arouse mixed feelings that move, basically, between nostalgia and tenderness and mystery. To evoke the passage of time, I avoid the black and white photography because I believe that these objects and spaces have spent enough time in the shadows, and instead, use less saturated colors. On the other hand, in the case of dark places, light work very carefully to get this air inquietante.Mi adventurous spirit, coupled with an insatiable curiosity about the unknown, is what motivates me to continue to infiltrate these dark worlds in search of lost memories to share with those in the light.
